Jayu Park, meaning "Freedom Park," is a beautiful green space perched atop Eungbongsan Mountain in Incheon. It was later renamed West Park and then finally Jayu Park in 1957 to commemorate the centennial of the arrival of American troops and the subsequent liberation of Korea from Japanese colonial rule. A prominent feature of the park is the statue of General Douglas MacArthur, a controversial figure but undeniably central to the Incheon Landing Operation during the Korean War. Visitors to Jayu Park can enjoy a variety of activities. Stroll along the well-maintained paths, taking in the breathtaking scenery. Transportation
Take Subway Line 1 to Incheon Station (인천역). From Exit 1, walk straight for about 10 minutes, then turn left and walk uphill for another 5-10 minutes to reach the park entrance. Alternatively, you can take bus numbers 2, 15, 23, 45 to a stop near the park.
